6 DAYS WALKING / 7 OVERNIGHT STAYS

We consider it necessary for you to be a fit and experienced walker for this six day walk. Having walked the trail in five days ourselves we have first hand experience and can certainly provide testimony to it being achievable, however, challenging especially in adverse weather conditions. As with the five day walk, you certainly sense a feeling of real achievement when you reach the end of Fort William’s pedestrian precinct at “Sore Feet!” Well worn boots essential!!

Day 1

Travel to Milngavie With good public transport links, you arrive into the lowland town of Milngavie ready to start your challenge!

Day 2

Milngavie to Drymen

(12 miles/19.25 km)

An easy start to your six days heading off through the beautiful Mugdock Country Park, then great views of the hill of Dumgoyne. A visit to the Glengoyne Distillery is a good option or a stop at the Beechtree Inn for lunch! A pleasant day to start off your trek

Day 3

Drymen to Rowardennan

(14 miles/22.5 km)

A reasonably tough day with much ascent and descent though definitely worth the hard work as you look down to beautiful Loch Lomond from Conic Hill.  A series of lovely woodland paths give you glimpses of Ben Lomond and leads you on to the tiny village of Rowardennan

Day 4

Rowardennan to Crianlarich

(20.5 miles/33 km)

A challenging day indeed but worth it for the fabulous views across to the Arrochar Alps as you pass by the tiny and remote village of Inversnaid and then on to Inverarnan. A fair bit of ascent on the last stretch before descending to the welcome sight of Crianlarich

Day 5

Crianlarich to Inveroran

(16 miles/25.5 km)

Fine views of Ben More and Stob Binnein await you not long out of Crianlarich! After passing Strathfillan you have an easy stretch to Bridge of Orchy and then the final swift climb over the hill to make your descent to the remote stage of Inveroran

Day 6

Inveroran to Kinlochleven

(18.5 miles/29.75 km)

This day starts with Thomas Telford’s military road over Rannoch Moor and on to Kingshouse. You then have fine views of the famous Buachaille Etive Mor mountain as you traverse the hillside to the foot of the Devil’s Staircase. Fantastic views await you and you will be glad of the descent into Kinlochleven!

Day 7

Kinlochleven to Fort William

(15 miles/24 km)
